Severe Storms Topple Trees, Cause Flooding, With Thousands In County Still Without Power

Hundreds in Fairfield County are still in the dark the morning after thunderstorms rocked the region, bringing gusty winds and heavy rain, sending trees and power lines flying.

As of 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, Eversource is still working to restore power to 604 of their 1,275,212 in Connecticut, including dozens in Fairfield County.

Outages were reported in Brookfield, Darien, Greenwich, Shelton, Stamford, and Westport. There has been no announced estimated time of complete power restoration.

More rain is expected at times on Tuesday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood watch for the area. The storm system is expected to finally slow down by midday, followed by some intermittent afternoon showers.
